Individually, both bands could easily headline their own tour and be guaranteed strong audiences in sheds, if not arenas. I spoke with Daryl Hall and Train frontman Pat Monahan in separate interviews a few days apart about the tour, which kicks off May 1 in Sacramento, California and ends September 11 in Seattle. Both are very excited about touring together and especially the collaborative nature of the trek. Steve Baltin: It's always an interesting thing because audiences make songs their own and so when you're playing the songs, some of them from 40 years ago that audiences are hearing for the first time, are there any songs in particular that get reinvigorated for you? We have so many songs, so many popular songs, it kind of restricts our ability to be as flexible as we might want to be.

After 15 years, Daryl Hall and John Oates are excited to have a new song out as a duo. This is something I really care about. I jumped onto it and put my two cents in, and it's a cool song. It's great to have something new to play, and it's going to sound great onstage with us and Pat doing it together. Writing with a guy like [Hall], who has all that talent and has lasted and has written hits and hits, I just knew that was going to be fun. Lemme work with the lyrics and mess around with the melody and make this into a record,' and that's what I did," Hall recalls. But Hall cautions that he and Oates aren't about to resume active recording together anytime soon.
