In this article, we will consider a geometric figure that does not involve line segments, but is instead curved: the circle. We will apply what we know about algebra to the study of circles and thereby determine some of the properties of these figures. Imagine a point P having a specific location; next, imagine all the possible points that are some fixed distance r from point P. A few of these points are illustrated below. If we were to draw all of the infinite number of points that are a distance r from P, we would end up with a circle, which is shown below as a solid line.

The area of a circle is all the space inside a circle's circumference. In diagram 1, the area of the circle is indicated by the blue color. The area is not actually part of the circle. Remember a circle is just a locus of points. The area is enclosed inside that locus of points. More interesting math facts here!

Practice the questions given in the worksheet on circumference and area of circle. Students can recall the topic and practice the questions to get more ideas on how to find the circumference of the circle and the area of the circle. From a circular sheet of a radius 5 cm, a circle of radius 3 cm is removed. Find the area of the remaining sheet. Find the perimeter of the adjoining figure which is a semicircle including the diameter. The diameter of a wheel is 70 cm. How many times the wheel will revolve in order to cover a distance of m?
