When I turn on my Honda Accord, the check engine light blinks 10 times about 1 blink per second , then stays off. It seems like its trying to tell me something. In other words, not an emergency, but something that bears checking. However, when a CEL begins to blink on and off, this is supposed to indicate an situation that needs to be investigated immediatedly before one problem morphs into more than one, and before repair costs escalate. It is possible that there may be an explanation for this CEL behavior. Just in case this CEL pattern does indicate something serious, I would suggest having the scan done tomorrow.
I was on my way to take my son to the doctor when my 99honda Accord check engine light started flashing and started stalling going up a hill. What could this mean?? NewAgeDerpDerp answered 9 months ago. Flashing CEL means a misfire that can damage the catalytic converter s due to a significant amount of unburned fuel. I replaced the plugs because it said cyl 3 misfire - now both cyl 1 and 3 are misfiring. Dannymart answered about a month ago. I have a Honda Accord. Over the last week, it has begun shaking when I stop the car. It also seems as though the engine is pulling extra hard. Just today, it began shaking harder while idling the the engine light blinks on and off when the car is stopped. It stops blinking and remains on upon accleration from a complete stop. Does anyone know if these two sensors may correct the problem? Please help!

Most of the time, that serious problem is a misfire. This flashing light should not be ignored. -
