Listen up, all you cuddlers! My wife and I have been backcountry hiking and camping in various national parks this summer. Altogether, the setup feels like home: warm, spacious, and comfortable. Combined, those bags weighed 5 pounds 8 ounces. In addition, the Sentinel 30 packs down smaller than those two sleeping bags combined. Its integrated pad sleeve fits our Q-Core SLX insulated double-wide sleeping pad perfectly and keeps it from sliding off.

Skip to main content. Big Agnes Sleeping Bags. Currently unavailable. Sleeping in this bag with my wife is no different that our bed, we are both over 6' and have plenty of room! So we bought a second one for our daughter. They are expensive for sure but I feel like I am in comfort of my own bed.

The Husted is named after James D. Husted, a Denver rancher noted for introducing novice investors to the wonders of the American West. With this sleeping bag, Big Agnes hopes to present the same wonders to novice backpackers. It's a bag that offers considerable warmth and notable comfort at a great price. Our testers particularly like the smart hood design that redirects the drawstring away from your face. Like most budget sleeping bags, however, there are a couple of problems. The Husted is unfortunately bulky and heavy, so much so that we can't recommend it for regular backpacking.

Currently, I use a Feathered Friends Lark that I had custom made in picked colors, 2oz overfill, and used their version of "gore lite" on the shell some type of PTFE laminate. The bag has been outstanding and looks new after 11 years, but it is a bit heavy at just under 3 lbs for a 10 degree bag maybe 5 degree with the overstuffing. I use the exped downmat 9 for a pad.

Big Agnes Double Sleeping Pad, Bag Review: Cuddling in the Backcountry

Finding the right sleeping bag often means making a lot of compromises. Or you could go with something ultralight, but that often means less room to move around, and less durability. Synthetic bags are better in wet weather, but down bags are lighter. But what do you lose by going so light? To find out, I took it with me throughout Nepal, the Wasatch mountains, Glacier National Park, and Teton National park to get an idea of how functional this ultralight bag is, and who would most appreciate it. At a stated weight of g for the Regular size and g for the Long, the Flume 30 feels practically weightless, and a good compression sack reduces it to about the size of a cantaloupe.

January 6, updated Jan 12, Jason Rea reviewer rep. I have read a lot of very favorable and very negative reviews on the Big Agnes Lost Ranger with very little in-between. I found it odd that a piece of equipment would be judged at such extremes, so I decided to pick one up and see what all the hype was about. To try and remove the heavy bias that this item seems to draw, I set up this little experiment to see just how this bag worked.
